This interest group was founded on May 9, 1996 in Würzburg and is based in Cologne. Its aim is to exchange experience in structural glass construction throughout Germany and to provide interdisciplinary advice on specialist, technical and economic issues. The members come from the fields of glass production, glass finishing, steel and metal construction and architecture. Natural or legal persons who are particularly involved with glass in structural engineering can become members of the association.
The FKG sees itself as a central point of contact and information pool for all groups involved in constructive glass construction. At the same time, it acts as a mouthpiece for the authorities and other associations. The association also aims to use the knowledge of its members to help shape building regulations, requirements and standards.
The membership fee is € 600 per calendar year per member company. The admission fee is € 3,000. Particular attention is paid to ensuring that each member supports the association’s activities through personal commitment or contributions in kind totalling € 3,000 per year; personal commitment is valued at € 500 per man-day. Architectural and engineering firms as well as scientific institutes only pay half of the aforementioned contributions and costs. The FKG accepts new members.
